Building Online & Flipped Lessons Presenter: Lauren Rosen, Director UW System Collaborative Language Program, Natalia Roberts, UW-La Crosse, Remya Sarma-Traynor, UW-Stevens Point
Lesson design, syllabus and weekly lesson plans, checklists, and clear concise communication with students is essential for the success of any distance or blended course. We will explore techniques and technologies for communicating with students and determining what content is best presented/worked on synchronously vs. how best to spend asynchronous time.

In this section we will explore how to build community in a classroom where students are dispersed and instructors often feel frustrated by the lack of personal connection with their distance students.

Considerations for Building Communicative Proficiency in Blended Courses Presenter: Lauren Rosen, Director UW System Collaborative Language Program, Remya Sarma-Traynor, UW-Stevens Point
Interpretive, Interpersonal and Presentational Communication skills are essential practice to build proficiency. Distance learning environments add challenges and require flexibility and innovative thinking to reach outcomes similar to traditionally taught courses. We will explore techniques and technologies to build communicative skills in synchronous and asynchronous environments.

Knowing Your Support Team and How to Get Help When You Need It

When it doesn’t work, who do you call? Whether you need help, big or small, there is a team of support for you. It is important that you know who is on your team and how best to access the help you need when you need it.
